This is long overdue.
Mark and I launched this Smells Like Sour website back in September 2003 as a tool to help us keep track of potential SLS tunes. For those of you new to the SLS concept, SLS is a hypothetical compilation of the best 80 minutes of new rock from the previous six months. We "release" the latest edition every six months; just before Christmas and at the end of June.
We take SLS very seriously and we wanted to ensure SLS10 contained the very best eligible modern rock music when it came time to select the final 80 minutes. A website seemed like an efficient way to track tunes we think belongs on SLS and since we were building the site anyways it made sense to open it up to the masses to submit possible SLS tunes for our consideration. Since people are submitting songs we may as well create a forum for discussions on each potential SLS track. And so, Smells Like Sour: The Website was born.
The purpose of this Smells Like Sour Blog is to share new rock news, comment on trends we detect on this SLS site and keep you in the loop as far as the selection process for SLS is concerned. SLS11 is due at the end of the month so there will be much to say.
