Before Hoobastank started polluting the environment with their sappy ballad "The Reason" there was "One Thing" from Finger Eleven. "One Thing" was also an emotional ballad from a band more noted for a harder rock sound and it appeared on SLS10.

From the moment "One Thing" hit it generated a great deal of debate on the Finger Eleven - One Thing page. What was it about? What was the one thing singer Scott Anderson was talking about? What was that weird video about anyways?

On January 10th, 2004, lead singer and song writer for Finger Eleven Scott Anderson ended the debate. He was aware of our discussion about his song and he wrote a post to clarify everything because curious minds wanted to know. Scott wrote, "I met a girl in High School in Burlington ON. Rather then come forward with my feelings at the time I put it off. Rather than face the proverbial "one thing" I stalled, not afraid of rejection par se, but instead scared of the thought of not being able to have this person next to me."
