Because it's the best Green Day song on the best Green Day album since Dookie.

Kind of long, this could be a big decision...
Does it have the staying power?

It's very long. 9:08. That would make it the longest SLS tune ever.

When you cap yourself at 80 minutes, do you want to commit over 10% of that to one song?

Maybe... Time will tell!

I agree that this is the best Green Day song of the best album. However, I really disagree that it is too long. I mean if you want to talk about great rock songs, look at precident. I mean look at Bohemian Rhapsody.

Sure, but Jesus of Suburbia is 50% longer than Bohemian Rhapsody.

I'm pretty sure Jesus of Suburbia will be there when we announce the final tracklisting for SLS14 in late December.

Or take Rush's 2112 for example: Clocking in at 21:22, weird no.
I'm tied with Boulevard as the best song on the best Green Day album.
