Edge 102 in Toronto is a "Modern Rock" station that prides itself on being on the cutting edge of music. Every year they sponser a day of new rock they call Edgefest. This year, Edgefest was headlined by Good Charlotte.
You won't hear Good Charlotte on Edge 102. They have more sense than that. Playing Good Charlotte would chase away the vast majority of their listeners. They did, however, advertise the hell out of Edgefest 2004 which is taking place this week. It hasn't sold out, no doubt because Good Charlotte is on the bill, so I've been hearing the ads all weekend. The ads include a snippet of "The Anthem" and it's the only Good Charlotte that manages to sneak into my ears. For this, I blame Edge 102 and their failure to seperate commerce from class.
Shame on you Edge 102. Shame on you. |

Um... How can you guys like these cliche pieces of shit? They sing about the same thing every damn song and it gets really repetative. Really, you are sticking up for some dumbasses who say that they are not cliche and all and says that they arent *rich and famous* But there is one problem they are everything that they say they arent. |

They are all angst-related, is what we mean. They refer to high school drama and problems with parents. There is the exception of "Lifestyles of the rich and the famous". However, that song is a huge contradiction. They are rich and famous, and complain. So who the hell are they to complain about rich people? |

actually they dont complain. they just tell people about what happend in their life. the rich and famous people they are talking about are the ones who dont appreciate where they are at. the ones who feel like "oh i have to go perform AGAIN! *gives annoyed look*" |

Kelley, you are so dumb. They do sing the same things and complain about everything. Every song they have is complaining about something. If you ask me, they need to shut the fuck up and come up with something better to do rather than complain all damn day. It's a shame that they get rich off of that shit you weirdos call "music".

Yes, Good Charlotte tends to write angst related songs, I agree, but why do you hold this against them? I beg to differ on the complaint issue. Far from it really, have any of you MET them? They're really rather grateful for everything they have and they've lived the harder life than most. Let them enjoy their ride can't you? Or because they're successful and people love them, you feel the need to put negative things out there to spite them? I don't get it. What is it? Are they not "punk" enough? are they not "rock" enough? Can you even define those terms? |

You know, Vanilla Ice said he had a bad life too. According to someone who went to their school, they were extremely popular.
Yes, I can define punk. I talk about it all the time, I have no life. |

okay okay. Their songs have meanings and they dont complain all day at all.
Id rather listen to GC than to something like westlife. Does it matter what their songs say anyway? None of you lot have the right to juge anyone. Have you ever the the lads? Their some of the nicest and funniest people you wud meet. Stop acting like fuckin 3 year olds.. Some people like GC some people dont... If u dont like them thats ur opinion if u love them like i do then thats right 2. |

This is to all GC haters. SHUT THE FUCK UP. Its okay if u dont like them, we dont care. But why do u have to make a big deal out of it?? Maybe u dont like their lyrics but it has helped a lot of people. Besides, some people like good charlotte and they're not posers because maybe they like GC and like The sex pistols or The ramones or something. |
