To quote something I posted on my site:

"There's an alarming trend in music we must snuff out before it's too late. A bunch of sound-alike, wanna-be-punk, nauseatingly mediocre bands are starting to secure way too much valuable radio air time, forcing me to dive for the next station preset all too frequently.

The bands on my personal hit list are: Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, Not By Choice and All-American Rejects. These bands try to look and act punk, but are just punks. Who likes this crap? It's some kind of safe pop-rock completely void of any soul or integrity. It's awful."

Good Charlotte? More like Mediocre Green Day - Chris Rock

Olivia, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess you're between 12 and 17 years old, am I right?

Only girls between the ages of 12 and 17 can honestly believe Good Charlotte rocks. Good Charlotte doesn't rock, in fact, they suck large.

Do yourself a favour and give Nirvana's Nevermind a spin before your brain turns to cheese.

I personally dont like Good Charolette but a lot of my friends do. They seem so...hmm..whats the word? Fake. Their songs have no real meaning. I like the chorus though, I find it quite amusing. *GIRLS DONT LIKE BOYS. GIRLS LIKE CARS AND MONEY!* Personally I like boys, cars AND money. And NO I am not shallow. lol.

P.S. I love the songs by Simple Plan, dont say shit about them. They may not be 'rock' but their songs actually have a meaning to them. Like 'Im just a kid' and 'Perfect' *awh* Perfect is so sad yet so easy to relate to (in my case anywayss).

Word.

My problem with Simple Plan is that my ears dislike their sound. I think they play in the wrong octave. If given the choice between Simple Plan and Good Charlotte I'd pick good Canadian boys like Simple Plan everytime.

Of course, if this was my only choice, I'd probably choose death.

I can understand why some people like that simple plan etc. it's because they fancy themselves as somewhat hardcore but are aren't, just like the bands. Personally i think its fake and stupid. They are just tryhards who look like punks but sound like the backstreet boys. Personally i don't like pop music, but i can put up with it, i just have trouble putting up with pop dressed as punk.

I cant stand this song, but im trying desperately to find out what the shirt one of them is wearing, i think hes standing on the right of the screen on the video. Its like a cartoon kid, with big eyes, and a weird shaped head. Im trying to find this "artist" or style or whatever it is for a tattoo design, anyone know, please please email me.

You all suck! You don't know what your talking about!!!! Good charlotte is the best punk act of all time. You can't say they aren't punk, they have the peircings and tattooes to prove it! Your all stupid and jelous that they have so much talent and are soooooo awesome.
And what would you know about punk you probably just like the critics and trust fund kids they sing about. Your living in the past.

Tina,
Lets get this straight
1. tattoos and piercing don’t make you punk, punk is an ideology and a lifestyle
2. you can have your opinon, but no one can say they are the best punk act in the world, as they aren’t a legitimate punk act
3. I’m not jelous, I would rather be a “nobody” than a “somebody” whos fake
4. The critics and trust fund kids seem to know whats going on why don’t you?
5. PUNK IS NOT A NEW THING!!!! Real punk, as a philosophy is long gone for most people (most), it started in like the 70’s it is a subculture of the past so how can we (the people who don’t think gc are punk) be living in the past as opposed to tina (who swears that punk is alive and well in good charlotte)
In short, popular punk music has always been controversial, green day were criticized because they were mainstream but green day had somewhat of a pop-punk formula that worked because it was theirs. Gc can’t pull off green days trick because lets face it there just a mediocre green day.
You want to listen to punk tina, listen to the ramones, the clash and the cure. They are real punk (and they didn’t need tattoos or other posers props to prove it!)

Tina, your post is the funniest thing I've read in a long, long time. Your line that "Good Charlotte is the best punk act of all time" is pure gold. I'm copying your post and sending it to everyone I know. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

The only thing funnier than your post is your email addy. tina_is_hardcore@hotmail.com. I'm scared!!!! Tina is hardcore!!! Tina called me stupid and jealous!!!!

Tina...one day you're going to turn 16 and become quite embarassed at your proclamation above. Don't worry. A long, long time ago, I thought Duran Duran was cool. We're none of us perfect. Thanks again for the laugh.

GC isn't punk. It isnt even pop-punk. Green Day was pretty much the first"popular" punk, and brought it to the masses so to say. Back Street Boys is a closer fit to GC then green day, or the Ramones for that matter.

There are a few stories around about how they got their name. The most widely accepted ones says that it came from a song Billy wrote about smoking pot. The term “green day” was slang among the band’s circle to describe good buds (pot) e.g. upon discovering they had some good pot to smoke one of them would say, “it’s a green day!” They were originally called Sweet Children.

Hey guys. I'm new to this whole punk thing. Actually, I don't consider myself punk. I consider myself me. I'm having a really hard time figuring out who i am.

yeah, well wow! Good Charlotte, and punk, used in the same sentence, is wrong all together! Good Charlotte is the farthest thing from punk. Punk isn't looking what everyone cals Punk, they're songs, are pop, not punk. everyone who thinks that they're punk, just because they listen to GC and simple plan, wow you dudes have issues. It's funny to see how pathetic people are to listen to poser punk bands and say YEAH IM A HARD CORE PUNKER SO BE SCARED! come on? have you ever heard of real punk, the classics? like deadmilkmen? yes, they rock, always will, and good charlotte, IS NOTHING LIKE THEM! and never will. so give it up pop-lovers that wanna believe good charlotte is punk so they fit in with this new screwed up trend of punk is cool. yeah wow that's all right too, cause mmm GOOD CHARLOTTE ISN'T PUNK! THEY'RE POP! NEVER WILL BE PUNK EITHER! posers, they have nothing better to do then to sit there, act punk, and make pathetic people, become more pathetic then they were, because they call themselves punk, when lables suck in the first place. you agree?!

Good Carlotte is punk they just may not be your ideal of punk. Who says everyone has to live under your standards of whwt is and what isn't. Good Charlotte are Oi Punk. AKA Street punk, Crust punk, etc. The more colorful of the punks, and maybe alittle dirty. Like the political punk, they're all about the unity, and having a good time. Though some of the bastards in the scene give them a bad name by being shitty to their fellow punk, most oi punks are more friendly and fun to be around. The type of music that they play may not be street punk, but their style and the type of music they listen to is.
